Double Crime in Lod: Two Young Men Killed in Shooting
SadaNews - Young men Moataz Abu Luban and his cousin Muhammad Abdul Hadi, both in their thirties, were killed as a result of gunfire in the city of Lod, raising the death toll from violence in the Arab community today to three and to five deaths over the past 24 hours amid the rise of organized crime.
According to ambulance reports, they received a notification about injuries on Street 40 in the city of Lod, where they arrived and found the victims unconscious and suffering from penetrating injuries, before being declared dead at the scene after attempts to save them failed.
The teams stated, "Upon our arrival, we saw two men in their thirties, lying unconscious after being injured in a violent incident," adding, "We performed medical examinations, but their injuries were critically severe, and we had to declare their deaths. "
The occupying police said they had begun an investigation into the circumstances of the crime which resulted in the deaths of two young men, indicating that the crime occurred "in the context of ongoing bloodshed." They added that their forces arrived at the scene, began collecting evidence, and conducted searches and pursuits of suspects involved in the shooting.
A burning vehicle was later found in the vicinity of Lod, close to the crime scene, which had been completely set on fire, with estimates suggesting that the perpetrators used it to carry out the double murder before disposing of it.
Earlier on Wednesday, a young man was killed in the town of Ein al-Asad in the Galilee after being shot inside a vehicle, resulting in serious penetrating injuries that led to his death at the scene, where medical teams found him unconscious before declaring his death. Local sources reported that the victim was a resident of the town.
These crimes come less than 24 hours after a double murder incident in the town of Yirka, which claimed the life of young Adi Faraj Shaaban (24 years old) from Majd al-Krum and his fiancée Suwar Abbas (21 years old) from Baka al-Gharbia due to gunfire targeting their vehicle.
Data indicated that armed individuals closed the road in front of their vehicle before one of them opened fire, leading to Shaaban's death, while his fiancée attempted to flee towards a nearby field before being injured, and she was found about 200 meters from the vehicle.
Data shows that the number of murder victims in the Arab community since the beginning of 2026 has reached 89, of whom about 85 were killed by gunfire, along with stabbing crimes, while one person was burned to death inside a vehicle.
Additionally, the number of victims under 30 years old was about 45, including 8 women, as well as 3 who were shot dead by the police (not included in the crime death toll).
During the same period last year, the number of victims was 77, reflecting a 23% increase amid a continuous rise in crime rates within the Arab community and an expansion of the targeting circle.
This data comes amid police inaction against organized crime within the Arab community, as only a limited number of murder cases have been solved, while the number of victims continues to rise.
This is happening amidst a lack of serious measures to deter perpetrators and curb the spread of weapons, which enhances the state of insecurity and entrenches a reality of escalating violence, alongside repeated calls for accountability for responsible individuals and the implementation of effective measures to protect citizens.
