Palestinian Bar Association Concludes Its Participation in the International Advocacy Competition Held in Tunisia

SadaNews - The Palestinian Bar Association has concluded its participation in the International Advocacy Competition held in Tunisia, organized by the National Bar Association in Tunisia, with the participation of 23 competitors from Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Belgium, and Italy, with Palestinian lawyer Jumaa Mansour winning third place for his advocacy on the law regarding the execution of prisoners. The competition opened with a speech by the Dean of the National Bar Association in Tunisia, lawyer Professor Boubaker Thabet, who emphasized the importance of continuing this competition in the coming years due to its professional and legal significance. For his part, the President of the Palestinian Bar Association, lawyer Fadi Abbas, in his opening speech for the international competition, reviewed the realities of professional and legal work in Palestine amidst the challenges imposed by the occupation. He stressed that this competition, held for the second consecutive year, carries two messages. The first is to stimulate the professional status of the competitors through positive competition in presenting high-quality legal advocacy and presenting it in front of a judging panel and a specialized audience. The second message is that the title of the advocacies reaffirms once again that justice for the Palestinian people, amidst what they are enduring, is present in this competition, especially since the majority of the advocacies were framed in the context of defending justice values in light of the hardships faced by the Palestinian people, confirming that this cause remains a prominent focus for Arab lawyers. It is noted that the judging committee for the competition was headed by the esteemed Dean Mahfoudh, the former Dean of Tunisian Lawyers, and the Palestinian Bar Association was represented in the committee by the Secretary General of the Bar, lawyer Amjad Al-Shalleh, alongside several colleagues from other participating countries.
