Arab Joint Statement Condemning Israel's Appointment of a Diplomatic Envoy to 'Somaliland'
SadaNews - The Foreign Ministers of the State of Palestine, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the People's Republic of Bangladesh, the Republic of Turkey, the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, the Republic of Sudan, the Federal Republic of Somalia, the State of Kuwait, the State of Libya, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania condemn in the strongest terms Israel's announcement of appointing a diplomatic envoy to what is known as "Somaliland"; considering it a blatant violation of the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia and its territorial integrity and unity.
Ministers affirm their complete rejection of all unilateral actions that affect the unity of countries or undermine their sovereignty, emphasizing their steadfast support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Somalia, and support for the legitimate state institutions of Somalia as the sole representatives of the will of the Somali people.
The ministers also affirm that such actions constitute a clear violation of international law, the United Nations Charter, and the founding law of the African Union, and represent a serious precedent that could undermine stability in the Horn of Africa, negatively impacting regional peace and security in general.
