Netanyahu: The goal of negotiations with Lebanon is to dismantle Hezbollah and establish lasting peace
Translation by SadaNews - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Wednesday evening that his government is holding negotiations with Lebanon, the first in over 40 years.
Netanyahu added in a recorded message, as translated by SadaNews, that these negotiations are taking place now because we are very strong and countries are coming to us, not just Lebanon.
He continued: In the negotiations with Lebanon, there are two main goals: the first is the dismantling of Hezbollah, and the second is lasting peace... peace from a position of strength.
He noted that his forces continue to attack Hezbollah, with battles concentrated in Bint Jbeil, the party's capital, emphasizing that the resolution of the city is imminent. He stated: "We are actually on the verge of destroying this major stronghold of Hezbollah".
Netanyahu pointed out that he has instructed his forces to continue enhancing their presence in the buffer zone and eastward towards Mount Hermon to aid the Druze in times of hardship, he said.
Regarding Iran, Netanyahu said: Our American friends continuously keep us informed about their communications with Iran, and our goals align.
He added: We want to see enriched materials being taken out of Iran, we want to eliminate the enrichment capability inside Iran, and of course we want to see the corridors opened.
He continued: It is too early to say how this matter will end, or how it will even progress, and in preparation for the possibility of renewed fighting, we are ready for every scenario.
