Israeli Estimates: Temporary Ceasefire with Lebanon Likely on Thursday or in the Coming Days

Translation and Follow-up by SadaNews - Israeli and American media reports on Wednesday evening indicated that a temporary ceasefire on the Lebanon front may occur on Thursday or in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Channel Reshet Kan reported that the cabinet is currently meeting to discuss the ceasefire with Lebanon, and several ministers have expressed their opposition to the proposal.

It highlighted that the Israeli army will continue its ground operations in southern Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah in the areas where its forces are stationed south of the Litani River, with the possibility of considering a reduction in airstrikes in areas where the Lebanese army will be present.

It stated that discussions on a gradual withdrawal will only be possible later if there is progress in the political dialogue between Israel and Lebanon.

Additionally, The New York Times quoted an Israeli official stating that a ceasefire in Lebanon could start on Thursday and last for about a week.

It further quoted a Lebanese official saying that Washington has informed the Lebanese government that Israel is considering a short-term truce.

He added: the Lebanese government does not represent Hezbollah, and the party has not yet responded to the idea of a short truce.
