Israel Expands Its Positions in Southern Lebanon and Applies an Approach Similar to Gaza Towards a Buffer Zone
SadaNews - The Haaretz newspaper revealed that the Israeli army is working to establish additional military sites in southern Lebanon, doubling their number, in an approach similar to what occurred in the Gaza Strip.
It explained that Israeli forces are demolishing homes in the area with the aim of evacuating residents and imposing a buffer zone, while the occupation army confirmed that it would continue to work "powerfully against Hezbollah" to prevent attacks on the residents of Israel, especially in the north.
In the same context, Yedioth Ahronoth claimed that the Israeli army thwarted an attempt by Hezbollah elements to storm a military site in southern Lebanon.
The newspaper also pointed out the existence of gaps between the military establishment and the political leadership regarding the concept of defense in the south, reflecting internal disagreements over managing the confrontation.
For his part, a commander of an Israeli battalion stated that the aim of establishing the buffer zone is for the fighting to always take place "on enemy territory," referring to a new strategy the army seeks to establish along the Lebanese border.
