The American Delegation Leaves Islamabad After Negotiation Failure

SadaNews - CBS News reported that the American delegation participating in negotiations with Iran in Pakistan has completely left the capital Islamabad without achieving any significant breakthrough in the negotiations.

According to officials who spoke to the network, both Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, along with the technical team, left Pakistan following the conclusion of an extended round of talks that lasted about twenty-one hours.

In a brief press conference held by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance in Islamabad on Sunday morning local time, he acknowledged that the negotiations did not result in any agreement.

Vance said: "We had a number of substantive discussions with the Iranians, and that is the good news. The bad news is that we were unable to reach an agreement."

He clarified that the direct talks ended without agreeing to hold a second round, noting that the American delegation would return to Washington without making progress. He added: "We have clearly outlined our red lines, what we can accept and what we cannot accept, but the Iranians chose not to accept our terms."

Vance confirmed that his country showed "flexibility and willingness to adapt" during the negotiations, but that was not enough to push Tehran to accept the U.S. proposal.

During breaks in the talks, the Vice President indicated that he had been in continuous contact with U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, U.S. Central Command Commander Brad Cooper, in addition to members of the National Security Council at the White House.

Immediately after the press conference, Vance left Pakistan and returned directly to the United States, indicating a setback in the diplomatic path at this stage.
