After 60 Days of Publication: The Temporary Constitution Drafting Committee Closes the Door to Receiving Comments on the Draft
SadaNews - The Temporary Constitution Drafting Committee announced the closure of the public comment period on the draft constitution after it had been published for 60 days via the electronic platform dedicated to the constitution. This decision came based on the presidential decree regarding the publication of the Palestinian temporary constitution draft issued on February 9, 2026.
The committee stated in a statement released today, Friday, that the electronic platform, which was set up to inform the public, witnessed extensive interaction, with nearly 15,000 visitors to the platform. The number of comments on the articles of the constitution reached 700, in addition to receiving over 50 studies regarding the draft constitution from governmental, international, and Arab institutions, as well as from local community organizations, human rights groups, and legal and academic figures.
The committee affirmed that it will continue to hold awareness meetings and discussions with various segments of Palestinian society to involve as many citizens as possible in the discussion of the draft constitution in order to develop the proposed texts and reach a consensual formula that meets the aspirations of our people and responds to the requirements of the stage.
