Netanyahu: We Support Trump's Decision to Suspend Strikes on Iran
SadaNews - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on Wednesday that "Israel supports Trump's decision to suspend strikes against Iran for two weeks".
Netanyahu added that "Israel supports the United States' efforts to ensure that Iran will no longer pose any threat to the United States, to Israel, to Iran's neighbors, and to the world through nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles, and terrorism".
According to a statement issued by his office, "the United States has assured Israel that it is committed to achieving these goals in the upcoming negotiations".
Netanyahu pointed out that "the ceasefire does not include Lebanon".
The American network "CNN" reported that a White House official said on Wednesday that Israel had also agreed to a temporary ceasefire with Iran.
According to the official, Israel agreed to suspend its air campaign against Iran as negotiations with it continue.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday his approval to halt bombing and attacks on Iran for two weeks.
Trump wrote in a post on his "Truth Social" account: "Based on the conversations I had with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Marshal Aasim Munir from Pakistan, who asked me not to use destructive force tonight in Iran, and provided that Iran agrees to the full, immediate, and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend bombing and attacks on Iran for two weeks".
He emphasized that "this will be a ceasefire from both sides", adding: "We received a 10-point proposal from Iran, and we believe it is a viable basis for negotiation".
He noted that "almost all previous points of contention between America and Iran have been agreed upon".
He continued: "We have made great progress towards reaching a final agreement on a long-term peace with Iran".
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated on Wednesday that the United States and Iran have agreed to a ceasefire "everywhere", including Lebanon, following his government's mediation to stop the war that began on February 28.
In a post on "X", Sharif wrote: "I am pleased to announce that Iran, the United States of America, and their allied parties have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere, including Lebanon and elsewhere, effective immediately".
