Trump explained in a post on Truth Social: "A whole civilization will die tonight, and it will never return. I don't want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have a complete and total change of regime, where different and smarter minds prevail, and less extremism, perhaps something revolutionary could happen, who knows? We'll find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the world."

He added: "47 years of extortion, corruption, and death will finally come to an end. God bless the great Iranian people!".
