Trump: The War Will End When Iran Complies with Demands
SadaNews - U.S. President Donald Trump announced that tomorrow, Tuesday, is the deadline for an agreement with Iran, while the latter delivered its response to Pakistan regarding the conditions for ending the war.
"They will pay the price"
He threatened before reporters that if Iran rejected the agreement, it would have no power plants or bridges left, implying a significant military escalation.
He also expressed his dissatisfaction with Tehran, threatening that they would "pay the price".
Nonetheless, the U.S. president highlighted the importance of negotiations with Iran, stating: "The proposal for a ceasefire with Iran is a very important step."
He noted that Iranian negotiators are now more rational, believing that the killing of Quds Force commander Qassem Soleimani had facilitated matters.
He also stated that the war would end if Iran did what was asked of it.
In this context, he emphasized that Iran would not get nuclear weapons, explaining that the war is about one thing: "Iran must not have nuclear weapons."
He added that the American people want the troops to come home, even though he wished to take Iranian oil.
He also acknowledged that Iran still possesses some remaining missiles and drones.
Regarding the domestic situation, Trump pointed out that Iranian protesters were killed and were unarmed.
He confirmed that America had worked to arm them, but the weapons did not reach them.
As for the condition of the pilots rescued in Iran, he clarified it is "very good".
Trump's remarks came as Tehran delivered its response to Pakistan, as official sources indicated on Monday evening that the highest levels of the regime reviewed the response to the proposal for the agreement and ending the war, according to the Iranian official news agency.
It also noted that the response showed the Iranian authorities' rejection of a ceasefire, emphasizing the necessity to end the war permanently.
Furthermore, it revealed that the response consisted of 10 clauses, including ending regional conflicts, a safe passage protocol through the Strait of Hormuz, lifting sanctions, and reconstruction.
Meanwhile, an American official considered the Iranian response to be hardline, and it is unclear whether it will lead to a diplomatic solution.
A knowledgeable source earlier revealed that Pakistan delivered a plan to both the American and Iranian sides to end hostilities in two phases. He added that the terms of the plan must be agreed upon today, according to Reuters.
It was also mentioned that if the proposal is approved, it would lead to an immediate ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, with a final agreement to be reached within 15 to 20 days. The proposal involves Iran renouncing nuclear weapons, lifting sanctions, and releasing its frozen assets in exchange for a vital shipping corridor. It clarified that the initial understanding would be formulated as a memorandum of understanding to be finalized through Pakistan, which is the only communication channel in the negotiations.
Moreover, it was reported that the Chief of Staff of the Pakistani Army, Asim Munir, conducted separate phone calls with U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, U.S. envoy Steve Wietkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
In contrast, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baqaei, clarified that his country had defined its demands based on its interests, adding that "its red lines are clear."
Devastation Across Iran
U.S. President Donald Trump vowed yesterday to bring devastation throughout Iran and bomb bridges and energy facilities if an agreement is not reached, alongside reopening the Strait of Hormuz, through which five shipments of oil and gas pass around the world.
He also gave the Iranian side a deadline until tomorrow evening before "opening the gates of hell," as he put it.
