Election Committee: Unprecedented Demand for Digital Platforms as Polling Day Approaches
SadaNews - The Central Election Commission reported a notable increase in citizens' engagement with its digital platforms, including its website, as the date for the local elections scheduled for Saturday, April 25th approaches.
The commission clarified that its website recorded approximately 5.5 million visits since the beginning of 2026, with one and a half million visits in March, coinciding with the execution of the electoral process phases, including the stages of registration and nomination. The purposes of the visits varied between inquiring about polling centers, obtaining electoral information, downloading regulations, as well as following news updates.
Regarding its social media platforms, the commission indicated that its content achieved more than 20 million views, with 5 million in the last month, reflecting an expansion in outreach and interest as polling day approaches, indicating that awareness materials gained the largest share of engagement.
Additionally, it noted that the AI assistant "Nazih," developed through its website, contributed to the awareness process and answered public inquiries, responding to approximately 30,000 questions since its launch in January.
The commission highlighted its efforts to expand its digital presence and invest in social media platforms to directly reach the public, by creating dedicated pages for each electoral district at the governorate level, in addition to strengthening partnerships with various sectors to redistribute awareness content.
The commission emphasized that these indicators reflect the increasing interest of citizens in obtaining electoral information from official sources, the heightened level of trust in the commission, and the growing reliance of the public on digital platforms as a primary channel for obtaining information, especially with the acceleration of the electoral process stages and the approach of polling day.
