Informed Source: Iran and the U.S. Receive Plan to End the War

SadaNews: An informed source told Reuters today, Monday, that Iran and the United States have received a plan to end the hostilities, which may come into effect today and lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

The source added that Pakistan prepared a framework to end the hostilities, which was delivered to Iran and the United States overnight. He explained that it is based on a two-phase approach, starting with an immediate ceasefire followed by a comprehensive agreement.

The source stated: "All elements must be agreed upon today," adding that the initial understanding will be drafted in the form of a memorandum of understanding that will be finalized through Pakistan, which is the sole communication channel in the talks.

According to the informed source, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan made separate phone calls with U.S. Vice President JD Vance, U.S. President's envoy Steve Witkoff, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.

The informed source on the proposals indicated that the proposed final agreement includes Iran abandoning nuclear weapons, lifting sanctions on it, and releasing its frozen assets.

He added that if the plan is agreed upon, it will lead to an immediate ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, with a final agreement to be reached within 15 to 20 days.

In Tehran, an Iranian official told Reuters that the country has received a Pakistani proposal "and is currently studying it," adding, "We will not open the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for a temporary ceasefire."

The Iranian official clarified to Reuters that Tehran sees the United States as unprepared to reach a permanent ceasefire.
