"We lost the keys".. Iran mockingly responds to Trump about opening the Strait of Hormuz
SadaNews - In a sarcastic comment on U.S. President Donald Trump's call to open the Strait of Hormuz, the Iranian embassy in Zimbabwe stated that Iran "has lost the keys".
The embassy said in a social media post: "We have lost the keys".
The Iranian embassy in South Africa also commented on this message with sarcasm.
The embassy wrote: "Shh... the keys are under the flower pot. But we only open the door for friends".
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard's naval command confirmed that the Strait of Hormuz will not return to its previous status, especially regarding the United States and Israel.
U.S. President Donald Trump earlier threatened Iran that next Tuesday would be a "day of destruction of power plants and bridges, unless the Strait of Hormuz is opened to international navigation".
He wrote on the "Truth Social" platform: "Tuesday will be the day of power plants and the day of bridges, coming together, in Iran, nothing will be like it!".
On February 28, 2026, America and Israel launched airstrikes on targets in Iran, including Tehran, resulting in damage and civilian casualties, and Iran responded by launching strikes on Israel and U.S. military facilities in the Middle East.
The escalation surrounding Iran has led to an effective blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital passage for oil and liquefied natural gas supplies from Gulf countries to the global market, and has affected the level of oil exports and production in the region, leading to rising prices.
