Report: Washington Demanded Israel Suspend Attacks on the Masnaa Border Crossing between Syria and Lebanon
SadaNews - Washington asked Israel to suspend attacks on the Masnaa border crossing between Syria and Lebanon, according to an Israeli report on Sunday.
This came as reported by the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation ("Kan 11") on Sunday evening, noting that the U.S. administration requested that Israel suspend its offensive on the crossing, "shortly after the spokesperson for the Israeli army issued a warning in Arabic about an evacuation before the attack on the site."
The Israeli occupation army claimed that Hezbollah is using the crossing and the adjacent M30 highway for military purposes, and that the army is preparing to attack the crossing, calling for everyone present to evacuate in preparation for bombing.
The report mentioned that Israel "received a request from the United States to suspend the attack on the crossing for 'political' reasons, leaving the matter to the Syrian security officials who operate on behalf of Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara. "
The broadcasting authority reported that a source described as knowledgeable about the topic stated that the Syrian government told the Americans that it is working against Hezbollah and has recently thwarted attempts to smuggle weapons from Syria to Lebanon.
In a related context, the Israeli army transferred Iron Dome system batteries closer to the Lebanese border to protect the occupying forces stationed in southern Lebanon from fire from high elevations, according to military commentator Roy Sharon.
