Zamir: The Opportunity is Ripe to Change the Security Reality in Lebanon

SadaNews - Israeli Army Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, said on Sunday that the opportunity is ripe to change the security reality in Lebanon, emphasizing that the occupation army will ensure the disarmament south of the Litani River.

This came during a meeting held by Zamir on Sunday with the mayor of Nahariya and members of the readiness teams in towns in the northern part of the country, according to a statement released by the Israeli army this evening, which mentioned that Zamir "discussed with them the operational situation and emphasized the importance of resilience on the home front demonstrated by the heads of authorities."

During the meeting, Zamir stated: "We are fighting inside Lebanon to protect Nahariya and the northern towns, and to ensure the long-term security of their residents; we have the opportunity to change the security reality, and we will not waste it."

He added: "We will not return residents from areas in Lebanon until we ensure disarmament south of the Litani," noting that "our goal is to remove the direct threat to the northern residents."

Zamir said: "We are systematically working to strike the risk of fire, using all available capabilities, and we are operating in different areas in Lebanon to provide security for the northern residents and all citizens of Israel."

He mentioned that "Hezbollah is receiving a heavy blow, and we will continue to deepen it," pointing out that the Israeli army is working on two fronts, with the northern front being another central front alongside Iran, and we see that the achievements against Iran also impact Hezbollah."
