Report: American Plans to Occupy Kharg Island and Storm Iranian Nuclear Facilities
SadaNews - The American newspaper "Atlantic" revealed military plans prepared by senior leaders in the U.S. military to carry out ground operations within Iranian territory, aiming to control strategic joints and nuclear facilities, awaiting the green light from President Donald Trump.
According to the report conveyed by the newspaper from three informed sources, the plans include two main operations; the first aims to occupy the strategic Kharg Island, which is considered the lifeline of the Iranian economy as about 90% of Iranian oil is exported through it.
The second operation involves carrying out ground raids by special forces targeting enriched uranium storage facilities.
The report indicated that these military steps carry significant risks and do not guarantee a quick end to the conflict, as targeting oil facilities could lead to a dramatic spike in global energy prices, while special forces face the risk of falling into Iranian ambushes.
On the political front, Trump faces increasing pressure and a division of opinions; "hawkish" factions and regional allies push for an escalation leading to the overthrow of the regime, while some in the White House and the "MAGA" movement warn of the economic and political repercussions of these operations, especially with polls showing that two-thirds of the American public desire a swift end to the war.
