Drones Target Airports in Kuwait and Baghdad, Interceptions in Saudi Arabia
SadaNews - The "Islamic Resistance in Iraq" announced the execution of 23 offensive operations in a single day, targeting bases and interests that it described as "the enemy" in Iraq and the region, confirming the use of dozens of drones, while attacks targeted Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
In a related development, Iraqi security sources reported the explosion of a drone packed with explosives early Wednesday within the U.S. diplomatic support center located in Baghdad International Airport complex, which is a logistical and administrative support center for American diplomats and employees in Iraq, including administrative offices, residential facilities, warehouses, and special security areas.
Although the attack did not result in casualties, it is part of a series of daily attacks targeting American interests since the onset of the American-Israeli war against Iran on February 28.
In the Kurdistan region of Iraq, air defenses intercepted four drones in the skies over Erbil, and the city's governor revealed that it had been subjected to more than 20 drone attacks.
Attacks in the Gulf
In the Gulf states, the Kuwaiti Civil Aviation Authority stated early Wednesday that Kuwait Airport had been targeted by drone attacks from Iran and its supported factions, noting that fuel tanks at the international airport were targeted, leading to a large fire outbreak.
The spokesperson for the authority, Abdullah Al-Rajhi, stated that Kuwaiti emergency teams dealt with the incident, pointing out that preliminary reports indicated material damages and no injuries were recorded.
In Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Defense announced through its official spokesperson that the air defenses managed to intercept and destroy two drones in the past hours.
The Bahraini Interior Ministry reported that civil defense extinguished a fire that broke out in a facility belonging to one of the companies as a result of an Iranian attack, following the sounding of alarms for the second time early Wednesday.
Since February 28, Gulf and Arab countries have been subjected to Iranian missile attacks, as part of Tehran's targeting of what it describes as "American bases and interests in the region" in response to American-Israeli airstrikes.
However, the Iranian attacks have targeted civilian locations and energy facilities, resulting in fatalities and injuries, and causing damages to buildings in Gulf countries, which has been condemned by the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, demanding an end to these assaults.
