Whittaker: We believe there will be meetings with Iran this week

SadaNews - On Friday, U.S. Special Envoy Steve Whittaker announced that the United States believes there will be meetings with Iran in the coming days.

Whittaker added during an investment forum in Miami, Florida: "We believe that meetings will be held this week. We are certainly optimistic about this," according to Reuters.

He continued: "We have a 15-point agreement on the table, which the Iranians obtained recently. We expect a response from them, which could resolve everything."

Iranian Official: We have not yet decided whether we will respond to Washington's proposal

A senior Iranian official described the U.S. attacks on Iran on Friday, coinciding with calls for talks, as "unacceptable," adding that Tehran has not yet decided whether it would respond to Washington's proposal amid attacks on its industrial and nuclear infrastructure.

The official further stated that the Iranian response to the U.S. proposals was expected on Friday or Saturday, according to Reuters.

"A decisive step"

This comes as U.S. sources revealed earlier that the Trump administration is awaiting Iran's response to the 15-point proposal aimed at ending the ongoing war in the Middle East, on Friday, according to CBS.

The sources clarified that the Iranian response to the U.S. proposal is considered a crucial step in the current negotiations.

For its part, an informed source stated that Iran is expected to send its response to the U.S. proposal on Friday.

The source noted that Trump and senior White House officials were informed through intermediaries that the Iranian response is likely to arrive on Friday.
