Report: Iran's Official Response to US Proposal Expected Today

SadaNews Translation - Multiple sources familiar with the matter informed CBS News that the Iranian response to the 15-point US peace proposal is expected to be issued today, Friday.
Two sources indicated that President Trump and senior White House officials have been informed that the proposed Iranian response will likely arrive on Friday through intermediaries. 

According to two sources, White House officials are cautiously optimistic that recent negotiations are making progress.

US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff stated on Thursday that the US administration has presented Iran, via Pakistan as an intermediary, a 15-point plan for a potential peace agreement. A regional source informed CBS News that Pakistan is in direct contact with the Iranian security establishment that controls the country, and not only with the Foreign Ministry.

Trump stated on Thursday that several of his senior advisors are working on negotiations with Iran, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President JD Vance, along with Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner. 

Rubio said on Thursday that "intermediary countries" are conveying messages, claiming that "some tangible progress has been made." He pointed to the "increasing amount of energy" flowing through the Strait of Hormuz as evidence of progress. 

White House press secretary Caroline Levitt said in a statement on Friday, "These are sensitive diplomatic discussions, and the United States will not negotiate through the media. While President Trump and his negotiators explore this new possibility for diplomacy, the 'Epic Fury' operation continues relentlessly to achieve the military objectives set by the Commander in Chief and the Department of Defense (Pentagon)."

Several countries in the region, including Turkey, are in talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi to initiate dialogue. The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, told CBS News last week that he is in contact with both the White House and Araqchi. 

During the last two failed diplomatic rounds, Araqchi and Witkoff spoke on the phone, but most discussions are managed through a third party. The United States and Iran do not have official diplomatic relations.
