Resignation of Netanyahu's Spokesperson Following Remarks Criticizing Him and Other Figures
SadaNews Translation - Ziv Agmon, the spokesperson for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and acting head of his office, announced his resignation from his position and all assigned roles, along with his complete withdrawal from political life, on Wednesday evening.
He did not provide clear reasons in his resignation letter.
The resignation came just a day after recordings of him aired on Channel 12, in which he made extreme racist remarks against members of the Likud party and others, declaring Netanyahu as "finished" after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. SadaNews also translated this.
Agmon described Netanyahu as an "old man," emphasizing the need for him to retire from his position and political life, stating that there would be no capable leader to govern after him and that Israel had come to an end.
In another recording, he opined that opposition leader Yair Lapid should take advantage of the fact that Netanyahu has become elderly.
Agmon also criticized Knesset members and figures close to Netanyahu, both from within and outside the Likud party, who are of Eastern or Haredi origins.
According to the Hebrew channel Reshet Kan, following his resignation, there is currently no chief of staff, no head of the National Security Council, no official spokesperson, and no general director for the Prime Minister's office.
