The White House: The Situation Around Negotiations With Iran is Unstable
SadaNews - The White House spokesperson, Caroline Levitt, described the situation surrounding negotiations with Iran regarding the resolution of the dispute as unstable on Tuesday. She stated to ABC: "These are sensitive diplomatic discussions, and the United States will not provide any statements via social media, this is an unstable situation, and assumptions regarding the negotiations cannot be considered final until officially announced by the White House."
The channel requested a comment from the U.S. State Department on the possibility of a visit by Special Presidential Envoy Stephen Witikoff, President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Vice President J.D. Vance to Pakistan to engage in negotiations with the Iranian side in Islamabad, a request that was directed to the White House.
In this regard, a Pakistani official stated to "GHB S" that there are "several proposals" regarding potential negotiations, including a direct meeting in Islamabad, noting that U.S.-Iranian communications are likely to take place within five days according to President Donald Trump's post on the "Truth Social" platform, but the official confirmed that no final decision has been made on this matter.
Furthermore, Trump wrote on the "Truth Social" platform on March 23 that Washington and Tehran have engaged in "good and very productive negotiations over the past two days" regarding a ceasefire. According to him, consultations are ongoing "throughout the week," and Trump instructed the U.S. Department of Defense "the Pentagon" to postpone strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure for five days.
The U.S. president stated to reporters that both the United States and Iran are showing a willingness to reach an agreement, and that both sides have "key points of agreement."
For his part, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baqai, stated to the "IRNA" news agency that Tehran has not conducted any negotiations with the United States, but has clarified its position to the mediators.
While the head of the Iranian Shura Council, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, denied any negotiations with the United States, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced that it has received "messages from friendly countries" regarding the U.S. request to hold talks.
Iranian cities, particularly the capital Tehran, have been subjected to near-daily bombings since the start of the U.S.-Israeli joint attack on Iran on February 28, which resulted in the deaths of senior officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In response, Iran launched missile and drone attacks on Israel, in addition to targeting U.S. interests in the Gulf.
