SadaNews - The Central Election Commission confirmed today, Monday, that it continues to receive and approve applications from monitoring bodies, media institutions, and journalists to cover the local elections of 2026, scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2026, emphasizing the importance of the role of monitoring and media in enhancing the integrity of the electoral process.
The Commission clarified that it has so far approved 50 monitoring bodies from Palestinian civil society organizations, which will deploy 800 monitors in polling centers and stations to follow the electoral process.
Additionally, the Commission has granted accreditation to 52 local and international media institutions, along with 360 local and international journalists, to cover various stages of the elections and convey them to the public.
The Commission affirmed that the accreditation of monitors and journalists is part of its commitment to a policy of openness and transparency, providing opportunities for monitoring and media entities to observe the electoral process, thereby enhancing its integrity and cementing citizens' trust in its results.
The Commission concluded its statement by confirming that it is proceeding with the implementation of local elections on the scheduled date, noting that it will publish the final list of candidates on March 31, as it will appear on the ballot paper via its website, and in local bodies and the commission's departments.
