Shabak Arrests Israeli Reserve Soldier for Spying for Iran

SadaNews - The Israeli Security Agency ("Shabak") announced today, Friday, the arrest of a reserve soldier serving within the Iron Dome system for spying for Iran for several months.

A joint statement issued by the police and the Shabak indicated that "as part of a joint operation between the 'Lahav 433' unit and the Security Agency, Raz Cohen, a 26-year-old resident of Jerusalem who served in the reserves within the Iron Dome system, was recently arrested on suspicion of committing security offenses related to communication with Iranian intelligence operatives to carry out security tasks directed by these operatives".

The statement mentioned that "an investigation conducted by the 'Lahav 433' unit and the Shabak revealed that the citizen had been in contact with Iranian intelligence operatives for several months".

It added that "he was instructed by them to carry out various security tasks, including transferring sensitive security information he obtained while performing his duties".

It was noted that "it became clear during the investigation that the citizen was aware that these communications were with Iranian elements and that he was receiving monetary compensation".

The statement continued that "the Jerusalem District Attorney has accompanied the investigation since its inception, and an indictment has been submitted today".

It was mentioned that "these elements, including intelligence and terrorist operatives from hostile countries, continue their efforts to recruit Israelis and employ them in security, espionage, and terrorist missions within Israel, even amid the ongoing war.
