Sisi Visits UAE and Qatar: Gulf Security is Egypt's Security

SadaNews - Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi conducted a quick visit today, Thursday, that lasted a few hours, covering both the UAE and Qatar.

According to the Egyptian presidency, this visit comes as a part of Egypt's "solidarity, support, and assistance" to the Gulf Cooperation Council countries in light of current regional circumstances, confirming Egypt's outright condemnation and rejection of "the unjust and unprovoked attacks on the territories of brotherly countries and attempts to harm their security and resources."

Sisi started his tour with a visit to the UAE, where he assured the Emirati President of Egypt's support for all the measures taken by the Emirati leadership to maintain its security and stability.

Sisi announced Egypt's explicit condemnation of the attacks targeting the UAE and Arab countries.

Ambassador Mohamed Shenawe, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, indicated that Sisi emphasized that the national security of the Arab Gulf states is an extension of Egyptian national security, confirming Cairo's readiness to provide all necessary support to maintain the security and stability of the UAE and Gulf Arab states.

Sisi reviewed the efforts Egypt is making to halt escalation, mentioning in this context that Cairo conveyed a clear message to the Iranian side that the Gulf states are not part of the ongoing war and that the Iranian attacks against them are unacceptable and unjustified and should be stopped immediately.

Sisi affirmed that Egypt continues its efforts to urge all parties to "immediately return to the negotiating path that is the only way to reach diplomatic solutions that preserve the stability and sovereignty of countries and the resources of their peoples in accordance with the established principles of international law and the United Nations Charter."

The official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency noted that Sisi then headed to Doha, where he assured the Emir of Qatar of Egypt's full support for the State of Qatar and its alignment with all Gulf countries in facing the unjust and condemned attacks on its territory, affirming Egypt's complete support for the measures taken by Doha to defend its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and its readiness to provide all forms of support to maintain the security and stability of the State of Qatar and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

The two leaders discussed several regional issues of mutual interest and agreed to intensify Egyptian-Qatari consultations in the coming period on ways to de-escalate tensions and restore regional stability.
