14 Martyrs in Central Beirut.. Israel Admits to Hitting a UNIFIL Site

SadaNews - The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that 14 people have been martyred and 41 injured in Israeli airstrikes targeting three densely populated residential neighborhoods in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, since the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The Ministry of Health announced that "the toll from the airstrikes launched by the Israeli enemy early today (Wednesday) on the al-Basta and Zuqaq al-Blat areas in the capital, Beirut" has risen to 14 people, in addition to 41 others injured.

In the south, an airstrike targeting a vehicle in the city center of Sidon, the largest city in southern Lebanon, led to the martyrdom of two individuals, according to the Ministry of Health, including "a paramedic in the Lebanese Civil Defense who died from his injuries. "

On another note, the Israeli occupation army acknowledged today, Wednesday, that its tank fire hit a United Nations site in southern Lebanon on March 6, resulting in injuries to elements of the peacekeeping forces from Ghana in an incident that highlights the increasing risks as Israeli operations expand.

A Western military source told Reuters on Tuesday that preliminary results from an internal investigation conducted by the United Nations indicated that Israel was behind the attack.

The United Nations peacekeeping force known as UNIFIL is stationed in southern Lebanon to monitor hostilities along the border demarcation line with Israel, an area considered a hotspot for clashes between Israeli forces and Hezbollah.

In a statement to Reuters, the Israeli army acknowledged that its forces were responsible for the incident, but stated that it was responding to anti-tank missile fire from Hezbollah that resulted in moderate injuries to two Israeli soldiers.
