Report: Netanyahu Assigns Dermer to Monitor the Lebanese File During the War and Manage Any Potential Negotiations

SadaNews - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has assigned former Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer to monitor the Lebanese file during the ongoing war since March 2.

According to Israeli and American officials cited by Channel 12, Dermer will be responsible for managing any potential negotiations with the American administration and the Lebanese government in the coming weeks.

Dermer previously led the Israeli negotiating team against Hamas and intermediary countries and Washington, before reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza on October 11, 2025, after a continuous two-year extermination war.

After a month of the ceasefire agreement being in effect in the sector, Dermer resigned from the Israeli government, after nearly two years in the position of Minister of Strategic Affairs.

Dermer is considered one of Netanyahu's closest associates and has been involved in managing sensitive issues related to coordination with Washington, particularly concerning the war on Gaza, relations with the Trump administration, and Iranian, Lebanese, and Syrian files.

He was one of the architects of the normalization agreements known as the "Abraham Accords". Prior to that, he served as Netanyahu's chief political advisor before taking on the Strategic Affairs portfolio in the current government formed at the end of 2022.
