Sultan of Oman to Iranian President: We will take all necessary measures to maintain our security and stability
SadaNews - The Oman News Agency reported that Haitham bin Tariq, the Sultan of Oman, received a phone call from Masoud Beizakian, the Iranian president.
In the call, Sultan Haitham expressed Muscat's dissatisfaction and condemnation of the ongoing targeting of its territories, affirming that all necessary measures would be taken to ensure its security and stability.
The phone call came just a few hours after Iran targeted fuel tanks in the Port of Salalah, while air defenses shot down several other drones, with no human casualties reported.
The agency also noted that during his conversation with Beizakian, Sultan Haitham reiterated Oman’s neutral positions, while both sides emphasized the necessity of stopping escalation and prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy to spare the region from the consequences of war affecting the security and stability of nations.
Additionally, the Oman News Agency stated that the phone call received by Sultan Haitham discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them, as well as reviewing the latest developments and current situation progress and efforts to reduce escalation.
A few days earlier, Muscat called for the necessity of joint Arab action and intensifying political and diplomatic pressure to stop the Israeli-American war on Iran.
Muscat also urged the importance of containing the consequences of the war, which has entered its second week, in order to protect the higher interests of the region and the safety of its peoples, according to the Oman News Agency.
