For the Second Time.. Turkey Shoots Down an Iranian Missile and Warns Tehran
SadaNews - For the second time since the outbreak of the war between Iran on one side and America and Israel on the other, Turkey announced the shooting down of an Iranian missile, warning that it would take all necessary measures to protect the country.
The Turkish Ministry of Defense stated in a statement today, Monday, that NATO defenses destroyed a ballistic missile launched from Iran in the eastern Mediterranean.
It also indicated that some debris fell in the Gaziantep region in the southeast of the country, with no injuries reported.
Furthermore, it confirmed that all necessary steps will be taken against the threats facing the country.
For its part, the Turkish presidency warned "all parties, especially Iran, against any actions that threaten security and civilians."
6 F-16 Fighter Jets
The ministry had earlier announced today that it had deployed 6 F-16 fighter jets and air defense systems in Northern Cyprus to enhance the security of Turks there amid the war in Iran, adding that it would take further measures if necessary.
This came after European powers moved in the past few days to bolster their military presence on the ethnically divided island, after an Iranian drone, believed to have been launched by Hezbollah, struck the British Akrotiri air base in Cyprus last week.
It is noteworthy that NATO defenses shot down a ballistic missile launched by Iran towards Turkish airspace last week, marking a significant escalation in the American-Israeli war against Iran, which has widened across the region.
Meanwhile, Ankara, a NATO member, warned Iran last Saturday against launching more missiles towards it, noting that Turkey was among the countries that condemned the American-Israeli war on Tehran.
In contrast, the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied targeting neighboring countries, particularly Azerbaijan and Turkey, urging caution in decision-making and responding.
