Qatar's Prime Minister: Iranian Attacks on Doha Make Us Feel a "Great Betrayal"
SadaNews - Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani stated that the Iranian attacks on Qatar "make us feel a great betrayal," considering the attacks on Gulf countries as a "grave mistake."
In an interview with the British Sky News network, he warned that escalation threatens to destabilize the region and could have dangerous repercussions on the global economy.
During his remarks, the Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs rejected the "justifications and excuses used to justify these Iranian attacks," clarifying that Doha "has made it clear that it will not engage in any wars against its neighbors," pointing out that military escalation "will only exacerbate the crisis."
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani noted that Qatar has entered a "difficult phase" amid Iranian attacks, but praised the efficiency of Qatar's defensive and security forces.
He mentioned that a quarter of the Iranian attacks "target civilian facilities," asking, "What does this have to do with war? What are they trying to achieve?" He also warned that what is happening in the Gulf "will not remain confined to it."
The Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that "diplomacy remains the only viable way out of the crisis," calling for the resumption of negotiations.
He believed that the responsibility for preventing escalation "is a responsibility that lies with all parties," confirming that Qatar continues to seek to reduce tensions, saying, "They are our neighbors, and this is our destiny."
Iran has launched a series of attacks with missiles and drones on Arab countries in the region, following the American and Israeli bombing of Iranian sites on February 28, 2026.
