An Iranian Expert Council Member: The Majority Support Mojtaba Khamenei's Leadership
SadaNews - A member of the Iranian Expert Council confirmed that a vote has been conducted to choose the new Supreme Leader of Iran, noting that the final result is currently under review.
The Expert Council member indicated on Sunday to "Mehr News Agency" that circumstances prevented the selection of the leader from being made publicly and in person.
He also emphasized that Khamenei's name will remain as a leader of Iran, referring to the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed on the first day of the American-Israeli attacks on February 28.
He added that most council members are in favor of Mojtaba Khamenei taking on the position of new leader, succeeding his late father Ali Khamenei.
For his part, the Deputy Head of the Expert Council clarified that the final report regarding the leader's selection will be announced soon.
These statements came after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi emphasized on Sunday that Tehran "does not allow anyone to interfere" in its internal affairs concerning the selection of a successor to Leader Ali Khamenei.
When asked about Trump's remarks on Thursday, suggesting that he should contribute to the selection of the next Iranian leader, Araghchi confirmed that Tehran "does not allow anyone to interfere" in its internal affairs regarding the choice of Khamenei's successor.
