Trump: Iran Would Have Been the First to Attack, Not Israel
SadaNews - The American President Donald Trump said today, Tuesday, in a meeting with journalists in his office: "We will see what happens in Iran, but first we must eliminate the military."
He added: "A person from within might be more suitable for Iran." He believed that the worst thing that could happen in Iran would be choosing a leader "as bad as" Khamenei.
He affirmed that the American military has succeeded in targeting many Iranian defenses, stating: "Almost everything has been destroyed."
He said that Iran "would have been the first to attack" and not Israel.
He promised that oil prices would drop again after the war ends.
He criticized the Spanish government for not cooperating and for not putting its airbases at the disposal of the American military and for not increasing its military spending within the NATO system.
During a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, he said, "Spain's position is very bad," noting that he asked Treasury Secretary Scott Pruitt to "stop all agreements" with Spain.
He added, "We will cut all trade relations with Spain. We want no relationship with them." He also criticized Britain for initially refusing to allow the American Air Force to use the Diego Garcia base.
Earlier, he said Iran wanted to negotiate but the time might have passed, while the United States continues its military operations against Iran.
He added in a post on his platform, Truth Social, commenting on an opinion article: "They lost their air defenses, their air and naval forces, and their leaders, and then wanted to negotiate, and I said: the time has passed!"
Trump escalated his rhetoric yesterday, announcing that the "big push" of attacks has not yet begun and hinted at the possibility of sending ground troops "if necessary," as Tehran officially closed the door on negotiations amid an escalation of fire exchange in the air war.
He stated that the United States is "inflicting severe strikes on Iran," and that the operations are "ahead of schedule," summarizing the war's objectives into four: the destruction of ballistic missile capabilities, eliminating Iranian naval power, preventing Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons, and stopping the funding and arming of its allied factions.
He added that the war could extend for four to five weeks, and that "the big wave is coming soon."
