Conflicting Reports About the Killing of the "Experts Council" While Choosing a Replacement for Khamenei
SadaNews - Israel continued its airstrikes on various targets in Iran on Tuesday.
In the latest strikes, the "Experts Council" building in Qom was targeted, which is the designated place for selecting senior figures in Iran, including the Supreme Leader in the event of his death.
Following the assassination of Ali Khamenei at the beginning of American-Israeli attacks, Iran began searching for a new Supreme Leader.
Axios reported that an Israeli military official stated that the Experts Council building in Qom was targeted while votes were being counted.
The official added: "It is still unclear who the members of the Experts Council were present in the building at the time of the attack or the extent of the damage."
He continued: "We wanted to prevent the Iranians from choosing a new leader."
Iranian media denied that the building was used by the "Experts Council," indicating that it is an old building and is no longer in use.
