SadaNews - The Jordanian Civil Aviation Authority announced in a statement on Monday the "partial and temporary" closure of Jordanian airspace to aircraft movements in light of the ongoing war in the region.
The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Authority, Dhaif Allah Al-Farajat, stated that the authority made the decision "to partially and temporarily close Jordanian airspace to all arriving, departing, and transiting aircraft (...) in light of the current regional developments and an assessment of risks according to international standards.”
Al-Farajat explained that "this measure will be implemented daily" starting from Monday, from six in the evening until nine in the morning of the following day, until further notice, "to ensure the safety and security of civil aviation.”
On another note, the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement that it summoned the Chargé d'Affaires of the Iranian Embassy in Amman to protest against the "attacks targeting Jordan's territory and sister Arab countries."
Five people were injured in Jordan, and damages were reported to 19 homes and 11 vehicles since Iran began launching missiles and drones in response to the US-Israeli attack on it on Saturday, according to the Directorate of Public Security on Sunday.
The Jordanian army announced on Saturday that its air defenses dealt with 49 ballistic missiles and a drone, managing to intercept 13 missiles as well as drones.
