"We will fulfill our duty".. Hezbollah comments on Khamenei's death
SadaNews - The Lebanese Hezbollah has pledged to "confront the aggression" in a statement by its Secretary-General, Naeem Qassem, who mourned the Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei after the announcement of his death in the American-Israeli attack.
Qassem stated in the announcement: "We will fulfill our duty to confront the aggression," emphasizing "not leaving the field of honor and resistance and confronting the American tyranny and Zionist crimes to defend our land."
The statement raised the possibility that Hezbollah, backed by Iran, would carry out attacks on Israel, potentially dragging Lebanon into war.
On Saturday, Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam warned that his country rejects entering into any "adventures" that threaten its "security," amidst fears of Hezbollah's involvement in the conflict.
Salam urged all Lebanese, in a post on the "X" platform, to exercise wisdom and patriotism in light of the "dangerous developments" in the region, prioritizing the interests of Lebanon and the Lebanese above all else.
He added: "I reiterate that we will not accept anyone dragging the country into adventures that threaten its security and unity."
