Israeli "Supreme Court" Freezes Government Decision to Ban Aid Organizations from Operating in Gaza

SadaNews - The Israeli "Supreme Court" issued a decision today, Friday, to freeze the government's ban on 37 foreign humanitarian and relief organizations operating in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, until a final decision is reached.

The court's decision comes in response to a petition submitted by humanitarian organizations, including "Doctors Without Borders" and "Oxfam," demanding the cancellation of the ban after the Israeli government revoked their work permits.

The court issued a temporary injunction allowing the organizations to continue their work. However, the decision is limited to freezing the status quo, meaning these organizations will not be able to change their staff or introduce new equipment and medications into the sector or the occupied West Bank.

Judge Dafna Barak-Erez stated that the decision is temporary and does not aim to "change the status quo or grant additional rights." The judge also decided to set a date to hear the petition as soon as possible.

On December 30, 2025, 37 international organizations were informed that their registration with the Israeli authorities had expired and that they had a 60-day deadline to renew it by submitting a list of their Palestinian employees.

Failure to comply would force these organizations to end all their activities in the occupied Palestinian territories starting March 1.
