UN: Israel Seeks to Achieve "Permanent Demographic Change" in the West Bank and Gaza
SadaNews - The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights confirmed on Thursday that Israel's actions in the occupied West Bank and Gaza Strip, including military operations that lead to displacement, aim to achieve a "permanent demographic change."
Volker Turk stated in a speech before the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva: "The collective Israeli actions seem to aim at creating a permanent demographic change in Gaza and the West Bank, raising concerns of ethnic cleansing," as reported by the "Agence France-Presse."
The UN official specifically pointed to the ongoing Israeli military operation in northern West Bank for a year that has caused the displacement of 32,000 Palestinians.
