Election Committee: The nomination window closes on Sunday at 2 PM without extension
SadaNews - The spokesperson for the Central Election Commission, Farid Ta'mallah, stated that the nomination window for local elections remains open on Friday and Saturday, closing at exactly 2 PM on Sunday, March 1, 2026. He confirmed that there would be no extension of the specified period.
Ta'mallah explained in a statement issued by the election committee on Thursday that one of the conditions for nomination is the submission of a personal clearance certificate, while a certificate of no criminal record or good conduct is not among the required documents to complete the nomination applications.
He indicated that following the nomination phase, lists and individuals will be granted three days to rectify any deficiencies or errors in the submitted applications.
He noted that the nomination window in Deir al-Balah is open in conjunction with the West Bank governorates, under relaxed conditions, pointing out that the committee's office there is accepting applications, while the teams work on raising citizens’ awareness of the necessary conditions and procedures.
The committee urged those wishing to nominate themselves in Deir al-Balah to hasten their communication with its office and submit their applications before the nomination window closes on Sunday at 2 PM.
The committee is scheduled to publish the preliminary list of candidates in all local bodies on March 7, allowing citizens to review it and file objections according to the established procedures.
