US-Iran Meeting in Geneva on Thursday

SadaNews - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed this evening, Sunday, Tehran's commitment to the diplomatic path with Washington and its readiness for a possible meeting in Geneva on Thursday, emphasizing the readiness of the armed forces to respond to any attack. A news report indicated that Iran has concluded a secret arms deal with Russia to procure thousands of shoulder-fired missiles.

The "Axios" website, citing an American official, reported that "nuclear talks with Iran are scheduled for Thursday."

According to information from other news reports, Iran is about to deliver a new proposal to the United States today.

The Iranian Foreign Minister told CBS News that "the diplomatic solution with Washington is still within reach."

He added that "it is likely that I will meet with the U.S. envoy, (Steve) Wittekov, in Geneva on Thursday."

Araghchi mentioned, "We have the right to defend ourselves if we are attacked," adding, "I will not say what we will do if the United States attacks us."

He said, "Our missiles cannot reach America, but we can target its bases."

He stressed that "diplomacy is the only solution to alleviate Washington's concerns regarding our nuclear program."

He pointed out that "reaching an agreement with Washington is possible, and there are aspects that could be better than the 2015 agreement."

Tehran Confirms Readiness of Its Armed Forces

In a related context, the Iranian presidency announced that Araghchi "presented a report to the government regarding the negotiations, emphasizing the continuation of diplomacy in accordance with national interests."

It added that "the defense minister provided a report on the enemy's military deployment, affirming the continuous monitoring of its movements both regionally and beyond."

It also noted the defense minister's affirmation of the "readiness of the Iranian armed forces at all operational levels."

For his part, the commander of the Iranian army ground forces, Ali Jahanshahi, stated today, Sunday, that his country's forces are monitoring the movements of those he described as "enemies" around the clock.

This came in a speech delivered by Jahanshahi during his inspection of a military unit in the city of Piranshahr in West Azerbaijan Province, near the Iraqi border.

He emphasized that the Iranian ground forces are doing everything in their power to protect the country's territory.

He added, "All enemy movements are continuously monitored. Thanks to our advanced capabilities, our soldiers will not allow any hostile action against these territories."

Referring to the deterrent role of the Iranian ground forces, Jahanshahi said that they have reached a level where they can neutralize potential threats against their country in their early stages.
