Americans Ask: Does Huckabee Represent Washington's Interests or Tel Aviv's?

SadaNews - In recent days, statements made by the US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, have sparked widespread outrage after he talked about Israel's claim over all of the Middle East, based on popular biblical interpretations within the Christian nationalist movement in the United States.

The remarks, made during an interview with American host Tucker Carlson last Monday, ignited angry reactions in Arab and Islamic official circles as well as on social media platforms.

Interestingly, the debate did not stop at the Arab and Islamic worlds, but extended to the United States itself, where activists and commentators questioned whether the ambassador represents the interests of the United States or primarily those of Israel.

Bloggers considered Huckabee "unqualified for this position" and demanded that someone "not belonging to their sect" replace him.

Activists called for the ambassador to be summoned to Washington for consultation, stating that "it is necessary for the president to review his representative in Tel Aviv and correct his course", adding that "Huckabee needs some time in his country to think about his mission and the limits of his loyalty".

Another wrote, "It seems that Mike Huckabee is an ambassador in an unusual situation. Perhaps it is more accurate to describe him as working for the interests of Israel rather than the interests of his own country, which he is supposed to represent".

American Christian voices also emerged criticizing the ambassador's stance, as one wrote, "We must pray for Ambassador Mike Huckabee, that God guides him and opens his eyes to stand with the Christians of the Holy Land, while also being an ambassador representing our government. I did not realize the extent of the destruction the State of Israel has caused to Christians of the Holy Land for over 70 years, until I had the opportunity to meet and get to know them personally in Jerusalem, Nazareth, and Galilee".

He added, "I would have stood completely with Mike had it not been for my meeting with the Christians of the Holy Land and seeing their daily suffering for survival".
