Iran Responds Sharply to Huckabee's Comments on 'Greater Israel'

SadaNews - In response to the statements made by U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baqaei confirmed that his remarks are clear evidence of the active participation of the United States in Israel's expansionist wars and the genocidal operations against the Palestinians.

He added: "Iran, in accordance with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, condemns these extreme ideological speeches."

He continued: "These speeches make Israel bolder in continuing its crimes against the Palestinians and its ongoing incursions into the countries of the region."

Mike Huckabee, the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, sparked widespread criticism after he stated that he sees no problem with Israel controlling the entire Middle East, during a media interview published on Friday.

Huckabee's remarks came during an interview with journalist Tucker Carlson, who referenced a biblical text that speaks of a divine promise to the prophet Abraham to grant his descendants land that extends from the valley of Egypt to the Euphrates River, which includes most of the countries in the Middle East.

According to The Guardian, Huckabee responded by saying he is not sure if it would go that far, "but it would be a large piece of land."

The U.S. ambassador, who is close to President Donald Trump, added that Israel is "a land given by God to a chosen people," emphasizing that it would be "acceptable for them to take it all," referring to the lands mentioned.

The interview was conducted inside Israel after Carlson stated that he had experienced "strange treatment" upon arriving at Ben Gurion Airport, a claim denied by the Israeli Airports Authority, which confirmed that he was neither detained, delayed, nor questioned.
