The Mufti: Tomorrow, Wednesday, is the First Day of Ramadan
SadaNews - The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and the Palestinian territories, head of the Supreme Fatwa Council, Muhammad Hussein, announced this evening, Tuesday, that tomorrow, Wednesday, marks the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.
The Mufti stated in a statement that during the meeting held by the Fatwa House in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque to observe the sighting of the Ramadan crescent, attended by a group of religious scholars and prominent official and community figures, and based on the assessments of astronomers both from within Palestine and abroad regarding the birth of the Ramadan crescent and the possibility of its visibility, it was confirmed through legitimate means that the Ramadan crescent was sighted this evening. Therefore, tomorrow, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, will be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan for this year, 1447 AH.
The Mufti congratulated Muslims across the East and West, as well as our Palestinian people in the homeland and in exile, on the arrival of this holy month. He also congratulated the Palestinian leadership, headed by the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, on the occasion of this blessed month, praying to Almighty God to make it a month of goodness, mercy, and forgiveness, to accept our martyrs in the highest ranks, to ease the near release for our brave prisoners, and to protect our Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa from the tampering of the wrongdoers.
