The Cabinet Reviews the General Features of an Exceptional Budget for 2026

SadaNews - Prime Minister Dr. Mohammad Mustafa confirmed the government's continuing commitment to fulfilling its duties towards our people in the Gaza Strip, including salaries for employees and various field interventions in health, education, water, and other areas, calling for more international effort to enhance relief and recovery operations leading to reconstruction.

During its weekly session today, Tuesday, the Cabinet warned of the dangers of Israel's decision regarding "land registration," considering it a unilateral step that exacerbates the conflict and undermines prospects for stability. Moreover, it is viewed as a clear evasion of international obligations and agreements, seeking to impose a new reality on the ground by entrenching creeping annexation in the West Bank.

The Cabinet called on the international community, as well as Arab and Islamic countries, to adopt more effective and decisive positions and measures regarding the occupation policies, ensuring the cessation of these actions and holding Israel accountable for its violations, in order to protect the rights of the Palestinian people and uphold international law.

The Cabinet also condemned the escalation of actions in the West Bank, particularly the seizure of Palestinian lands and the demolition of homes in the Jerusalem Governorate, including the notification of 40 homes for demolition in the town of Anata, as well as the increase in incursions and arrests, and the tightening of movement restrictions.

Additionally, regarding the unfortunate incident that resulted in the death of a child and the accidental injury of his sister in the town of Tamoun, the Cabinet expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the family, as the loss has saddened the hearts of all our people. It emphasized that this tragedy requires the completion of investigations with full transparency and responsibility, reinforcing the rule of law and taking necessary measures to ensure justice and safeguard the lives and security of citizens.

In another context, the Cabinet reviewed the general features of an exceptional budget for 2026, which is being prepared in consultation with various government institutions, the advisory council of the Ministry of Finance, and various relevant civil society organizations. Different proposals will be considered before moving on to detailed discussions through the Cabinet soon, paving the way for submission to the President.

Despite the Israeli financial siege and difficult economic conditions, the government asserts that it is proceeding with the implementation of its strategic plans, including the Cabinet's approval of the recommendations of the technical committee for managing state property, the most important of which are: allocating government land in Jericho for the Ministry of Public Works and Housing for the purpose of constructing a government complex, and allocating land for the Ministry of Health to establish a Health Directorate in Halhul.

The Cabinet also approved the renewal of contracts with employees at the Ibrahimi Mosque, contributing to enhancing presence, vigilance, and care for the holy site. It directed relevant authorities to intensify political and diplomatic efforts to confront and expose the crimes of the occupation.

The Cabinet also approved a request from the Ministry of Health to launch a field training program in epidemiology to enhance the skills of medical staff in this important field.

The Cabinet adopted a memorandum of understanding between the State of Palestine and the Colombian Institute for Family Care, particularly for providing urgent care and securing prosthetic limbs for children injured in the sector.

It discussed, in the first reading, the executive regulation exempting vehicles for people with disabilities from customs fees and taxes to ensure greater social justice, while also setting financial ceilings for exemptions and tightening conditions for ownership and usage, ensuring proper utilization of exemptions through regulatory controls and measures.
