Report: America Holds Advanced Talks with Morocco, Albania, and Greece to Send Troops to Gaza
SadaNews Translation - According to informed sources cited by the Jerusalem Post and translated by SadaNews, Morocco, Albania, and Greece will join the international stabilization force in Gaza, which will take on aspects of peacekeeping in Gaza during the second phase of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas approved by the Trump administration.
Meanwhile, Kan Hebrew Channel reported, according to SadaNews translation, that the United States is engaged in advanced talks with Morocco, Greece, and Albania to send forces to the Gaza Strip.
Representatives from the U.S. headquarters in Kiryat Gat Gaza are expected to visit soon to start working on establishing the multinational forces base.
This comes alongside the announcement on Sunday that Indonesia will be the first country to join the international security forces mission, ahead of the peace council summit scheduled to be held in the United States on Thursday.
The Associated Press also reported on Sunday that Indonesia's contribution to the Indonesian security forces will begin in April, with the deployment of Indonesian troops primarily targeted for June.
The same report specified the number of Indonesian soldiers to be deployed in April at 1,000 soldiers, with the full force in June amounting to approximately 8,000 soldiers, a figure higher than some previous estimates reported by the media.
Information regarding the timing of troop deployments for the additional three countries remains unspecified, but by mid-January, reports indicated that Morocco will join Indonesia to become the largest peacekeeping forces.
Morocco has maintained special defense relations with Israel since signing the Abraham Accords in 2020.
According to the Associated Press report, aspects of the selection and qualification process for soldiers to join the forces in Indonesia are underway.
However, Indonesia has also stated that if the conditions in Gaza are not suitable for deployment regarding any potential conflict with Hamas, the force may delay travel to Gaza.
In previous months, Indonesia was mentioned as a potential country to contribute to the international security forces, along with the UAE, Morocco, Egypt, Italy, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Qatar, Turkey, and others, but so far, no country has moved from public promises to concrete preparations to send troops.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo will visit Washington to attend the peace council summit hosted by Trump on February 19.
