Hezbollah Reiterates Refusal to Surrender Weapons and Confirms Readiness in Case of Attack on Iran

SadaNews - The Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Naeem Qassem, renewed his rejection of surrendering weapons today, Monday, emphasizing that the threat of war will not lead to the surrender of the resistance. He also indicated "readiness for sacrifice" regarding American threats against Iran.

Qassem explained in a speech delivered on the occasion of the "Annual Commemoration of the Martyr Leaders" that the aid offered to Lebanon is often "conditional".

He accused unnamed international parties of "seeking to arm the Lebanese army, aiming to confront the resistance instead of confronting Israel".

He emphasized that any support "should be in favor of the independence of the Lebanese decision, and not to serve the interests of major powers and Israel".

Regarding the issue of his group's weapons, Qassem said that "the threat of war will not push us to surrender", affirming that the party is "prepared to defend in case of any Israeli aggression".

He pointed out that "the weapons of the resistance act as a deterrent that prevents Israel from launching wide-scale attacks", reiterating his refusal to surrender the weapons.

The Lebanese government is implementing a plan to confine weapons to the state amid American and Israeli pressure; however, Hezbollah has repeatedly asserted its commitment to its weapons, calling for an end to Israeli aggression and the conclusion of its occupation of Lebanese lands.

Since the ceasefire with Hezbollah began in late November 2024, Israel has committed almost daily violations resulting in the deaths of hundreds of people.

In October 2023, Israel began an aggression against Lebanon, which it escalated in September 2024 into a full war, killing more than 4,000 people during this period and injuring around 17,000.

Regarding the Iranian file, Qassem stated that Tehran has "withstood American threats and will influence the region just as Gaza and Lebanon have, as the enemy is one, namely the Israeli enemy".

On Hezbollah's position in the event of an American attack on Iran, Qassem added: "We consider that we must have a clear stance in the confrontation process, and we are determined to be ready for sacrifice".

Iran considers that the American administration and Israel are fabricating pretexts for military intervention and regime change, threatening to respond to any military attack, even if limited, and insisting on lifting the Western economic sanctions imposed on it in exchange for restricting its nuclear program.
