Gathering Information on Gallant: An Israeli Spy Working for Iran
SadaNews - Israeli authorities have charged an Israeli citizen suspected of gathering intelligence on former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, following his arrest and interrogation over the past few weeks.
According to reports, the results of the interrogation conducted by security agencies, including the Shin Bet, revealed that the suspect had been in contact with a foreign source, which security officials believe to be an Iranian intelligence operative. It was noted that he received financial payments for performing various tasks, including gathering information described as affecting national security.
Sources indicated that the security agency classified the party the defendant communicated with as an "Iranian intelligence source," while no additional official details about the nature of the information gathered or the duration of the activities attributed to him have been released thus far.
The phenomenon of espionage between Iran and Israel has intensified over the past two years.
The increasing number of Iranian agents has led Israel to open a new wing for them at Damon Prison in Haifa, while only one spy among the accused has been convicted so far, with most cases still pending in court.
