Netanyahu: The Task of Disarming Hamas Must be Completed and Iran Should Not Have Nuclear Enrichment Capability
SadaNews - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated today, Sunday, that Israel must ensure the "mission" of disarming Hamas is "completed," including light weapons as well. He pointed out that the occupation army has destroyed 150 kilometers of tunnels in the Gaza Strip out of 500 kilometers and emphasized that any agreement that Washington may reach with Tehran must ensure that "Iran does not have the capability to enrich uranium."
This was mentioned in a speech delivered by Netanyahu at a conference of Jewish organization leaders in occupied Jerusalem this evening, shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump called on Hamas to completely and immediately relinquish its weapons.
Netanyahu said: "We are determined to implement Trump’s 20-point plan, and to achieve that, Hamas must disarm and Gaza must be stripped of weapons."
He stressed that "there should be no light weapons, as they are slaughtering their own people with them today, just as they slaughtered the Jews on October 7," according to his statement.
He confirmed that "they still have tunnels," adding: "We have destroyed 150 kilometers of tunnels out of 500, and we need to complete the task."
He continued: "We must not leave them laboratories for production either, as they are trying to arm themselves," noting that "this can be done easily, or with difficulty."
The Israeli Prime Minister added: "We will give President Trump and the 'Peace Council' an opportunity to do this, and we will see."
In his speech, Netanyahu addressed his closed meeting with the U.S. president last week, saying: "The focus was on Iran. President Trump is determined to exhaust all available opportunities to reach an agreement, given the current circumstances."
He added: "I expressed my doubts, as Iran completely relies on its lies."
He continued: "We also talked about Gaza, and after the (attack) we experienced on October 7, we set three goals: to bring back the hostages, to eliminate Hamas, and to disarm the region, and we must complete this task."
Netanyahu mentioned that if an agreement is reached, there should be "effective controls" on the disarmament of Iran.
He added: "I expressed my skepticism about any agreement with Iran, as Iran is consistent in one thing: lying. But if an agreement is reached, it must include several important elements for the security of the world, not just Israel: all nuclear materials must be removed from Iran, and it must not have any capability to enrich uranium."
According to Netanyahu, "ballistic missiles must also be addressed; as well as dismantling the terrorist infrastructure led by Iran," as he put it.
