The African Summit Calls for Unconditional Support for Palestine's Full Membership in the United Nations
SadaNews: The African summit issued a comprehensive final statement at the conclusion of its meetings, outlining firm political positions regarding the issues in the region.
The Palestinian file topped the summit's agenda, as African leaders called for granting the State of Palestine full membership in the United Nations, in line with the desire of the majority of countries in the international community. They affirmed that this step represents a legitimate right for the Palestinian people to self-determination and an end to the occupation.
The summit's statement also announced a strong rejection of any attempts aimed at forcibly displacing the Palestinian people, considering this a grave violation of international laws.
Leaders warned of the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip due to the imposed siege and the prevention of medical and relief aid, which threatens the lives of millions of civilians.
The summit reaffirmed its full solidarity with the Palestinian people's struggle for freedom and the establishment of their independent state.
On another note, the summit paid significant attention to the Sudanese affairs, calling for an urgent humanitarian truce leading to a comprehensive ceasefire throughout Sudan.
During the 39th African summit held in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, under the theme: "Ensuring the availability of water and safe sanitation systems to achieve the goals of Agenda 2063," the President emphasized in a speech delivered by the Prime Minister yesterday that: "What is happening in the West Bank reflects the same approach faced by our people in the Gaza Strip, where Israel continues to seize citizens' lands, expand illegal settlements, and protect the assaults and terrorism of settlers who perpetrate all kinds of injustice against Palestinian citizens and their properties, lands, and crops, in blatant violation of international law."
Palestine's participation in this summit is aimed at garnering more support and political backing for Palestine and our people's cause.
