Mustafa Discusses Developments in Palestine with the UN Secretary-General
SadaNews - Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa met with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres today, Saturday, on the sidelines of the 39th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. During the meeting, he briefed Guterres on the latest developments in Palestine, particularly regarding the dire humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, the ongoing occupation measures, and settler attacks in the West Bank, including Jerusalem, in the presence of the Palestinian ambassador to Ethiopia and the permanent observer to the African Union, Faris Qab.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of implementing the international resolutions concerning Palestine, the latest being Security Council Resolution 2803 regarding the cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip, and the unimpeded entry of emergency relief and humanitarian aid to address the disastrous conditions in the sector, as well as initiating a recovery and reconstruction path.
He also reviewed the occupation's measures in the West Bank, including daily incursions, checkpoints, and restrictions on movement, settler assaults on citizens and their property, ongoing piracy of Palestinian funds, and annexation and settlement expansion plans.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed the importance of ensuring the continued operation of UNRWA and its services for Palestinian refugees, as well as the joint coordination between the State of Palestine and UN institutions to enhance efforts in the fields of relief and recovery.
