After Trump's Deadline.. An American Aircraft Carrier Accompanied by Ships and Destroyers on Its Way to the Middle East

SadaNews - After U.S. President Donald Trump gave Iran a month to reach an agreement regarding its nuclear program, informed sources revealed that a new aircraft carrier will head to the Middle East to join the "Abraham Lincoln" currently stationed in the Arabian Sea.

An American source familiar with the plans stated that the largest aircraft carrier in the world has been ordered to sail from the Caribbean to the Middle East, as Trump considers military action against Iran, according to an Associated Press report on Friday.

Furthermore, four U.S. officials disclosed that the American aircraft carrier "USS Gerald R. Ford" along with its accompanying ships, which were previously deployed in the Caribbean, will be sent to the Middle East. They added that "it is not expected to return to its ports before late April or early May."

They also confirmed that the ship's crew was informed of the decision yesterday, Thursday, according to The New York Times.

The "Ford" strike group will receive new orders to join the "USS Abraham Lincoln" strike group in the region, as part of Trump's renewed pressure campaign on Iran.

Trump hinted yesterday about sending a second aircraft carrier to the area, but neither he nor the U.S. Navy specified the name of the ship.

He also confirmed on Thursday evening during a press conference at the White House that he wants to finalize a deal with Iran within a month. He said, "We have to make a deal, otherwise, it will be very painful, very painful. I don’t want that to happen."

He added: "They should have made a deal the first time, but they received a taste of the 'midnight hammer.'"

He affirmed that "it will be very tough on Iran if a deal is not made."

He also indicated that "if the deal with Iran is not very good, they will probably face a very tough time."

Meanwhile, he urged Iranian authorities to move quickly, saying, "I estimate that within the next month or so, they need to move very quickly."

Simultaneously, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency recommended on Thursday evening that airline companies within the bloc stay out of Iranian airspace until March 31, stating that it is extending a previous warning, according to Reuters.

The agency said: "The presence and use of a wide range of weapons and air defense systems, along with unpredictable state reactions, pose a significant risk for civil flights operating at all altitudes and flight levels."

This comes as global powers and regional countries fear that the collapse of negotiations between Iran and the United States could ignite a wider conflict.
